Setting up your device

Unlock Developer options. Open Settings → About. On Android TV and Google TV it's Settings → System → About or Settings → Device Preferences → About. Select Build number 7 times until you see "You are now a developer".
Projectors often hide this under System information. Try selecting the model name or version line 7 times.
Turn on debugging. Open Developer options and turn on USB debugging. If you see ADB over network, Network debugging or ADB debugging, turn that on too.
Connect. Put your iPhone on the same Wi-Fi and open ADB Remote. Allow local network access when iOS asks. Your device should appear under Devices on this Wi-Fi.
Approve your phone. Your TV shows "Allow USB debugging?". It calls your phone a "computer". Tick Always allow from this computer, then choose Allow.

No devices found

Check that the iPhone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network, not a guest network.
In iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network, make sure ADB Remote is on.
Enter the TV's IP address manually. You'll find it in the TV's network settings.

"Couldn't connect" or connection refused

Network ADB is off. Turn on ADB over network (or similar) in Developer options.
If your device only has Wireless debugging with a pairing code, connect it to a computer once and run adb tcpip 5555. It stays on until the device restarts.

The TV never asked to allow my phone

Tapping the preview doesn't select things

Some TV apps are built only for the D-pad. Use the arrows and OK, or swipe on the preview to move through rows.

To stop a phone from controlling your TV, open Developer options on the TV and choose Revoke USB debugging authorizations, or turn debugging off.
